Dance of Awareness (£10)
I run monthly Dance of Awareness classes in Midhurst, in Birdham near Chichester, and in Petersfield.

The sessions last between 1.5 and 2 hours. Please arrive in time and wear something comfortable and easy to move in, bearing in mind we may be lying on the floor for part of the session
Gentle Dance of Awareness (£8)
|Hamblin Hall, Bosham||Wednesdays||1.15–2.45pm||Classes restart in Sept 5th 2018|
This lunchtime dance session is more gentle, reflective and slow paced than the evening classes. We will be dancing for about 1 hour. Please wear something comfortable and easy to move in, bearing in mind we will be lying on the floor for part of the session
Singing for All (£5)
Join us to sing simple part songs, improvise and work with confidence and expression. No experience needed, uncertain or nervous singers especially welcome!

Transitions: a Dance of Awareness Workshop
Midhurst, Cowdray Hall
Sun 28th October 2018. 10am–4pm
Cost: £45 (£37.50 Early Bird)
Whether we welcome or dread them, transitions are a part of life! In this one day workshop we will use the Dance of Awareness™ cycle to explore how we respond when life invites us to transform. It offers a chance to experience the early patterning which makes us respond as we do to change — and the opportunity to dance through it in a new way.
Inwards: a Dance of Awareness Workshop
Bosham: Hamblin Hall
Sun 9th Dec 2018, 10am-4pm
In this day-long workshop we’ll use the Dance of Awareness cycle to create a gentle space in which we'll journey inwards, connect with the depths in ourselves, and perhaps meet the depths in each other. There are no steps to learn, no judgment and no expectations. If you like 5 rhythms, biodanza, contact improvisation or similar you will most likely enjoy this. Beginners to this type of dance practice are also very welcome.
The Imaginal Body
Brighton: Venue TBC

This workshop focuses on the use of the imagination in Essential Body Awareness™ work. How we imagine ourselves and the world profoundly effects the way we move and function. We will work with archetypal imagery and symbols to explore how we move and relate to ourselves and others.

What is Dance of Awareness?
Dance of Awareness™ is a group dance and movement practice that offers a profound exploration of what it is to be in a body, and to move from inner awareness and outer connectedness. It incorporates several strands including character styles, authentic movement, five rhythms and mindfulness practice. There are no steps to learn, no judgment and no expectations. If you like 5 rhythms, Biodanza, contact improvisation or similar you will most likely enjoy this! Beginners to this type of dance practice are also welcome very welcome at all our classes and workshops.
The DoA cycle — sensing, grounding, expressing, releasing, connecting and completing — allows us to revisit our early body history, to celebrate the embodied patterns that make us unique, and discover new ways of being who we are. As we move and breathe together, we open more fully to self-awareness and a wider consciousness of our place in the world.

What is Essential Body Awareness?
Essential Body Awareness™ is a meditative, exploratory movement practice, usually done to music, that helps you to experience — and transform in a profound way — unconscious tension and holding patterns in the mind and body which interfere with your ability to relax, to move easily, and to feel truly comfortable in your own skin.
In the classes we gently explore the developmental foundations of movement and support using music, discussion and interactive exercises to mindfully uncover and let go of unhelpful habits and responses.
The group size is deliberately kept small allowing for individual attention. Where necessary the teacher can use refined touch and guidance to help you let go of unnecessary tension and to discover more comfortable and beneficial ways of moving and being.

I have been been involved in various forms of personal development, movement and bodywork for over twenty years. I am a qualified Alexander Technique teacher, a licensed Dance of Awareness™ facilitator and a Body Psychotherapist. In addition I developed Essential Body Awareness™ out of my work as an Alexander teacher, as an effective, enjoyable and profound practice to help improve body use, balance and movement.
Music, embodiment and education have always been important parts of my personal and professional life. In addition to my bodywork and therapy training I have a degree in jazz studies, a post-graduate qualification in adult education, and a masters degree in Myth, Cosmology and the Sacred. All of these themes come together in different ways in my work.
